Columbia Threadneedle Investments confirms completion of the acquisition of Bank of Montreal’s EMEA Asset Management business

Following our announcement on 12 April 2021 regarding Ameriprise Financial’s proposed acquisition of BMO’s EMEA Asset Management business, including BMO GAM Asia Limited, (BMO GAM (EMEA)) Columbia Threadneedle confirmed that this acquisition completed on the 8th November 2021. BMO GAM (EMEA) is now part of Columbia Threadneedle Investments, the global asset management business of Ameriprise Financial.

This strategically important acquisition accelerates the growth of Columbia Threadneedle Investments in the EMEA and APAC regions and secures its position as a significant global asset manager, with a total of more than £525 billion ($725bn / €610bn) assets under management*.

Columbia Threadneedle and BMO GAM (EMEA) are two leading asset managers with solid momentum and strong client focus. Through the completion of the transaction, together our complementary investment capabilities and distribution networks will deliver added value to you, our client, to help you meet your evolving needs.

What does this mean for you?

The success of our clients remains our priority and will underpin our approach to the transition period. At this point you should experience minimal change and we will continue to maintain our existing relationships, with the same client management teams, and look forward to offering the expanded capabilities that the acquisition brings in the future.

We are very excited about what this acquisition will bring to you and our business. Our combined global team of more than 2,500 people share a client-centric culture, a collaborative and research-based investment approach and a long-held commitment to responsible investment principles.

We will continue to communicate with you as we move through the transition period. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your usual BMO GAM relationship manager.

Sincerely,
