Kristi Mitchem is chief executive officer and head of BMO Global Asset Management (BMO GAM), BMO’s asset management division, where she leads a team of investment professionals dedicated to delivering superior performance across a range of asset classes including multi-asset, alternative and more traditional exposure to listed fixed income and equities. BMO GAM has over $300 billion in AUM and is recognised as a world leader in ESG investing and corporate engagement.
Prior to joining BMO in 2019, Ms. Mitchem served as the CEO of Wells Fargo Asset Management where she led 28 autonomous investment teams. She has more than 20 years of experience in roles related to asset management, defined contribution pension plans and equities markets at State Street Corporation, BlackRock, and Goldman Sachs.
Ms. Mitchem is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion. At State Street she was a driving force in bringing to market a gender diversity index exchange-traded fund (ticker: SHE) designed to invest in U.S. companies committed to advancing the roles women play in their management and on their boards.
Ms. Mitchem was named one of the Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business by the San Francisco Business Times in 2018, as one of the Top Women in Asset Management by Money Management Executive in 2017, and as one of Treasury & Risk's Top 100 Influential People in 2008. She is also listed in several patent filings focused around guaranteed income requirements.
Ms. Mitchem earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Davidson College, where she graduated summa cum laude and was awarded First Honors. She earned a master's degree in business administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where she was an Arjay Miller Scholar. She is also a Fulbright Scholar.
Jerry has over 25 years of experience in the Financial Services sector including 20 years as a Financial Planner. He has worked on both MFDA and IIROC Platforms as an advisor and a manager.

Queenston is the leading Canadian company specializing in business valuations of the financial product distribution industry. There are three basic services that result from our experience and knowledge of valuations:
Business Valuations – Queenston has a proprietary process to value businesses in our sector.
Consulting Projects – Queenston uses our experience of valuations and knowing the value drivers of successful businesses in our industry. We work with our clients in identifying the areas that can increase their businesses value. This could be developing a business plan and/or marketing plan designed to increase the value. In addition, we will do a Continuation Plan and/or Succession Plan in conjunction with an effective Exit Strategy.
Mergers and Acquisitions – Queenston has done more deals in the micro-cap area of the financial product distribution industry than anyone in Canada. We know what businesses buy/ sell/merge for in Canada. We will work with clients to initiate these transitions. Our experience in this sector is unparalleled.
James joined the Group in 2014, managing absolute return, active and passive mandates across a broad range of strategies. Prior to joining the firm, James worked for 6 years at the Bank of England within the Reserves Management team, including roles as the Trading Manager, Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of the Issuance team. During this time he implemented absolute return positions across a range of macroeconomic and relative value strategies, utilising a comprehensive range of interest rate instruments within liquid currencies. Strategies included duration, yield curve, asset swap, cross market, relative value and basis swaps. He has an economics degree from the University of Bath.
Phil is responsible for BMO Global Asset Management's (GAM) U.S. business. In this role he is a member of the GAM Global Management Team, represents the GAM U.S. business on our U.S. Management Committee, and leads the U.S. Sales and Service teams. Prior to assuming this role, Phil served as head of relationship management and was responsible for overseeing client service, sales and marketing, including investment management and trust and custody services. He joined the company in 2010.
Prior to joining the company, Phil was head of the Chicago office of Russell Investments and was responsible for its U.S. institutional defined contribution business. Prior to this, he worked with Hewitt Associates, where he led an investment consulting team within Hewitt Financial Services, providing services to defined contribution clients representing over $200 billion.
Phil holds an M.B.A. in finance and marketing from Northwestern University and a B.S. from Indiana University. In addition, he is a CFA® Charterholder, a certified public accountant and a member of the Investment Analyst Society of Chicago.
Mandy is Head of Distribution and Client Management (EMEA) and a member of BMO Global Asset Management’s Senior Leadership team. Mandy is responsible for client service and distribution across retail, wholesale and institutional.
Mandy joined the company in July 2012 and has 23 years’ experience in the investment industry. Prior to BMO Mandy was with CQS UK, the multi-strategy asset management boutique, where she was a member of the Executive Committee and responsible for leading the promotion of the company’s proposition globally. Prior to CQS UK, Mandy was at Lehman Brothers where she developed sell-side experience as Managing Director, Global Head of Capital Introductions and a member of the Prime Brokerage Operating Committee.
Prior to Lehman Brothers Mandy held senior institutional sales and product specialist positions at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (now Blackrock) in Australia and London.
John Wythe has approximately 40 years' experience in the real estate industry and was until Dec 2010, a Director and Head of Fund Management of Prudential Property Investment Managers Limited, now M&G Real Estate. He has been a Board member of the Church Commissioners and is currently Chairman of the Trustees of The Portman Estate and has a number of other Non-Executive appointment, primarily involving real estate.
Paul Niven is Managing Director and Head of Multi-Asset Portfolio Management. He is also Fund Manager for the Foreign and Colonial Investment Trust. Paul joined the firm in 1996 and has worked in Asset Allocation and Investment Strategy since 1999, after undertaking a fund management position in Pacific Basin Equities. Paul has had responsibility for the management of Multi-Asset mandates within the group since 2002 (including large portfolios for insurance clients) and is Chair of the Investment Policy Group. He is responsible for strategic and tactical portfolio construction as well as manager selection across a variety of institutional mandates. Paul graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Economics, obtained an MPhil in Finance, and is a member of the UK CFA Institute.
Hans Fortuyn is Delegated CIO in the Fiduciary Management team of BMO Global Asset Management. He is responsible for the investment portfolio of several pension funds. Hans started in 2008 at BMO Global Asset Management as Account Associate Investment Reporting and joined the Fiduciary Management Team in 2012. Previously he worked at Schretlen & Co as Assistant Account Manager. Hans holds an MSc in Financial Management from the Nyenrode Business University and he is a CFA Charterholder.
Ruud Oude Wolbers
Ruud Oude Wolbers is a Portfolio Manager in the Fiduciary Investments team, specialising in manager selection & monitoring of Real Estate & Mortgages. Before this role Ruud worked for F&C as Performance & Risk Analyst, Portfolio Ananlyst Credits and Investment Strategist. He graduated in Financial Economics from Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in 1996 and holds the VBA.
Alex Jones is a Portfolio Manager in the ETF team. He was previously a member of the Systematic Strategies team since 2015, having joined the Group two years earlier as a researcher within the Multi-Asset Alternatives team. Alex moved from Goodhart Partners where he was one of the founding partners and an analyst on their range of multi-manager portfolios, having been involved in the development and launch of these portfolios whilst at WestLB Asset Management. Alex joined WestLB from Aon Consulting in 2006, where he spent seven years as a member of Aon’s Investment Consulting practice. Alex has a BSC (Hons) in Mathematics from Sussex University.
Hamish Mair is Managing Director, Head of Private Equity at BMO Global Asset Management and the fund manager of BMO Private Equity Trust PLC. He has over 30 years of investment experience of which over a quarter of a century are in private equity. He has been head of Private Equity at BMO Global Asset Management since inception and oversees all the funds its manages. Hamish was a director of Martin Currie Investment Management between 1996 and 2005. His prior responsibilities at Martin Currie included small companies and Far Eastern equities. He was an investment analyst with Robert Fleming Asset Management between 1988 and 1990. Hamish is a graduate of Aberdeen University and Edinburgh University.
Alex Soulsby joined the Group in July 2006 and is Head of Investment Solutions (EMEA). He has spent the last 13 years managing the LDI investments for pensions and insurance clients. Prior to joining, Alex worked at JP Morgan where he spent 8 years as an interest rate specialist, modelling exotic derivatives and subsequently structuring derivatives hedges for UK financial institutions. Alex has a BSc in Economics from LSE and a BA in Philosophy and Politics from the University of Durham.
Erik Rubingh, Managing Director, Head of Factor Investments joined in July 2007. Prior to joining, Erik worked at ABP Investments (now APG Investments), first as Senior Portfolio Manager in the Global Quantitative Strategies Group and later as Head of that group. Erik graduated from Groningen University with an MSc in Econometrics. He is also a CFA charterholder.
Andrew Brown is a Fund Manager within the Credit team. He joined BMO Global Asset Management in 2006. Prior to this, he worked for M&G Investment Management as a Credit Analyst. Andrew holds an MSc in Investment Analysis from the University of Stirling and an MA in Economics from the University of Edinburgh, and is an Associate of the CFA Society of the UK.
Richard is responsible for the overall strategic direction, profitability and investment results of all elements of the business globally and is part of BMO's Wealth Management leadership team. He was appointed to this role in June 2016, having been CEO of BMO Global Asset Management (EMEA) since 2014.
Previously, Richard was CEO of F&C Asset Management plc, where he led the company's acquisition by BMO Financial Group and subsequent integration into BMO Global Asset Management (EMEA). Before becoming CEO of F&C in January 2013, Richard held a number of senior positions in the company including head of equities and head of investment & institutional.
Richard began his asset management career in 1988 as a U.K. equity manager with HSBC Asset Management (formerly Midland Montagu). He then joined Deutsche Asset Management (formerly Morgan Grenfell), where he rose to managing director, global equities. From Deutsche, Richard moved to Gartmore Investment Management in 2003 as head of international equity investments before joining F&C in 2004.
Richard holds a B.A. in economics and statistics from the University of Exeter
Ian Kelley is responsible for developing BMO Real Estate Partners (BMO REP) business in France and across Europe, to complement the current platform. He supports BMO REP’s strategy in Europe, which includes developing new cross-border, pan-European “core / core+” funds for institutional clients as well as “Value-Add” club-deals for private wealth clients. He has over 17 years of experience in the European real estate market, of which over 10 years were with CBRE Global Investors where he co-launched several pan-European funds with a market value totalling over EUR 2.5 billion. Before joining CBRE, Ian gained expertise in retail and office development at Unibail-Rodamco and Bouygues Immobilier. Before that, Ian worked at Polo Ralph Lauren where he was responsible for retail development across Europe. Ian is French-American and studied at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, followed by post-graduate studies at Columbia University and Harvard Business School.
Richard Nairn is a Director in the Private Equity team where he is manager of The Aurora Fund LP and responsible for the firm’s primary and co-investment activity in a number of European geographies as well as leading the firm’s secondaries activity. Richard has 15 years of investment company experience, including 10 years in private equity. Richard previously worked for Intelli Corporate Finance between 2001 and 2006, a corporate finance boutique focussing on providing advisory services to the investment trust and investment management sectors. Richard graduated with an honours degree in business studies from Edinburgh University and spent a year at the Gothenburg Business School in Sweden. He qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC in Edinburgh.
Anja Eijking joined the Group in 1999 and has been managing global convertibles for the Group since. Prior to this, Anja worked in Equity research at Merrill Lynch. Anja studied Financial Economics at the Free University in Amsterdam, has completed the Securities and Futures Authority course in London and is a member of the Dutch Securities Institute.
BMO Emerging Market Debt Team
Thomas Hassl joined BMO Global Asset Management in 2016. In his role, Thomas focuses on engagement, voting and strategic data analysis, with primary responsibility for the Chemicals and Industrials sector. Prior to joining BMO Global Asset Management, Thomas worked for the responsible investment research provider Sustainalytics, where he was conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis on a variety of ESG-related themes, including sector reports and thematic studies. In addition, Thomas was a member of Sustainalytics’ product innovation team, designated to enhance and further develop the product suit of the company. Thomas holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Innsbruck as well as a Bachelor degree in Management and Economics.
Ian Robinson is Managing Director, Global co-Head of Income and Head of Credit EMEA. He joined the Group in 2002. Prior to this, Ian worked at WestLB Asset Management as a Fund Manager in the Global Fixed Income and Currencies team, with responsibilities for Sterling investments and global credit exposure. In 1996, Ian joined MGM Assurance as a Fixed Income Fund Manager, having started his career with Whittingdale in 1992. Ian obtained an MSc (Eng) in Integrated Management Systems in 1990, having graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1989 with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Software Engineering. Ian holds the IIMR.
BMO Fixed Income Team
Fixed income encompasses a host of underlying debt related asset types with a wide range of issuing entities and underlying security structures. It provides options across the risk/reward spectrum for income, total return and absolute return orientated objectives.
At BMO, our fixed income capabilities range from money market, government bond and interest rate management, through investment grade and high yield corporate bonds as well as extending into areas like emerging market debt and convertible bonds.
Clients can choose from bond funds focused on defined asset types or outcome orientated strategies built from fundamental capabilities across our organisation.
Andrew joined BMO Asset Management Inc.'s active fixed income team as a portfolio manager in 2005, and has over two decades of experience in managing fixed income portfolios. Andrew oversees portfolios with an emphasis on the interest anticipation aspects of government bond sectors. Prior to joining BMO AM, he managed a mix of mutual funds, pooled assets, and segregated private client portfolios for a major institutional investor. Andrew holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Windsor, a Bachelor of Arts degree (Economics) from the University of Western Ontario and received his CFA designation in 1999.
Thomas Wilson is a fund manager in the European equities team, focussing principally on UK investments. He is a fund manager on the F&C UK Mid-Cap Fund and F&C UK Alpha Fund. He joined the firm in September 2007. Thomas graduated with a BSc in Economics from the University of Southampton, holds the IMC and is a CFA Charterholder.
Christopher is the lead Portfolio Manager for LGM’s Asia strategy and Co-Portfolio Manager for LGM’s Greater China and Responsible Asia strategies. He has over thirty-four years’ industry experience, joining LGM in 2006. Christopher was initially located in Hong Kong as a Portfolio Manager and Director of Asian Research, later relocating to LGM’s London office in 2015. Christopher has developed a distinguished career researching and managing portfolios across Asian markets. Prior to joining LGM, he worked for the investment banking boutique, Fox-Pitt Kelton and the Swiss banking group, Lombard Odier, both located in Hong Kong, while he started his career in London on the Asian research team at Capel Cure Myers.
Christopher graduated from University College London with a degree in History, later undertaking an MSc in Economic History from the London School of Economics.
Irina is the lead Portfolio Manager for LGM’s Global Emerging Markets Small Cap strategy and Co-Portfolio Manager for LGM’s GEM strategy. Irina has over twenty-six years’ industry experience, joining LGM in 2007. Initially, Irina focused mainly on Eastern European markets, becoming a co-Portfolio Manager for LGM’s GEM strategy in 2010 and in 2017 she launched LGM’s GEM Small Cap Strategy. Prior to joining the team, Irina was an Associate Portfolio Manager at AGF Funds Inc., supporting the AGF Emerging Markets fund in Toronto. Irina began her career in private markets where from 1994-98 she worked as a Vice President for the U.S-Russia Investment Fund, a private equity investment fund in Moscow, later working in Mergers & Acquisitions in both Canada and Russia.
Irina has an MBA from the University of Rochester as well as a Bachelor Degree in Finance and Banking from the Moscow Finance Academy.
June Lui, CFA, CESGA®*
June is the lead Portfolio Manager for LGM’s Greater China and Responsible China A-shares and Co-Portfolio Manager for LGM’s GEM and Asia strategies. June is based in Hong Kong and has over twenty years of industry experience. June joined the LGM investment team in 2014 re-locating to Hong Kong to support and develop LGM’s Greater China investment capabilities and research efforts. Prior to joining LGM, June worked at BMO Global Asset Management (LGM’s parent entity) from 2006, where she was a Co-Portfolio Manager for Asia Pacific ex-Japan portfolios and the Greater China specialist for the emerging markets team based in London. June has also held a managerial position at the Hang Seng Investment Management Company and worked for the Industrial & Commercial Bank of China.
June holds both an MBA from the University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is a CFA Charterholder and an EFFAS Certified ESG Analyst.
Alan Nolan, CFA
Alan is Director of Client Portfolio Management and Operations at LGM. He has over fourteen years of industry experience, joining LGM in 2016. Alan sits on the LGM investment team and is part of the LGM Investment Board and a member of the LGM ESG committee. He also represents LGM on the Performance & Risk Review Committee (PRRC), which reviews the implementation of each portfolio LGM manages from a risk oversight perspective. He previously worked at Pioneer Investments in London as a Product Specialist, covering emerging markets (Equities and Debt) and European high yield. Prior to this, Alan was a Senior Associate in a combined sales and client relationships role at Alliance Bernstein. He spent the first five years of his career at the National Treasury Management Agency in Dublin, where he was an Analyst for the National Pension Reserve Fund, focusing on the selection and monitoring of the investment manager programme.
Alan holds a BSc Honours in Financial Maths and Economics from the National University of Ireland, Galway, an MBS in Finance from University College Dublin Michael Smurfit School of Business and is a CFA Charterholder.
Anthony is an investment manager in the Multi-Manager People team. He joined the group via Thames River Capital in April 2007. Anthony has worked in the investment industry since 1997, having previously been employed by State Street and Credit Suisse. He holds the Investment Administration Qualification (IAQ), the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and a BA (Hons) in Economics & Politics from Exeter University. Anthony leads macro-economic research and specialises in a number of sectors for fund research including Fixed Income and Global.
Kevin Chee, CFA*
Kevin is a Portfolio Manager for the Responsible China A-shares strategy and is based in LGM’s Hong Kong office. He has over thirteen years of industry experience, joining the team in 2016 to support the Greater China research efforts then becoming portfolio manager on the launch of the Responsible China A-shares strategy. Before joining LGM, Kevin was a research analyst at Jefferies for five years, covering Greater China consumer companies and prior to that, at Credit Suisse.
Kevin holds a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from National University of Singapore and is a CFA Charterholder.
Rob is co-head of the Multi-Manager People team. He shares responsibility for the performance of the team’s portfolios with Gary Potter and leads research teams for UK, Japan and European equities. Rob joined the group in 2007 via Thames River Capital. Prior to this he was at Credit Suisse from 2001, being jointly responsible with Gary Potter for their multi-manager funds. Prior to that he was at Rothschild Asset Management where he was a main board director and jointly responsible for their multi-manager business. Rob began his career in stockbroking in 1985, moving into multi-manager field in 1991. He is a chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and holds their diploma.
Gokce is the lead Portfolio Manager for LGM’s Responsible Global Emerging Markets and Responsible Asia strategies. He joined LGM in 2017 initially as an Analyst, focusing on frontier and emerging markets, and was promoted to Portfolio Manager in 2018 when he also joined the Investment Leadership team. Prior to LGM, Gokce worked for FSSA Investment Managers in Hong Kong and Stewart Investors in Edinburgh. He started as a generalist with wide research and investment responsibilities across the Asia Pacific markets, emerging markets and global equities and progressed to running a successful internally funded GEM portfolio. He was appointed member on the Responsible Investment Committee of First State Investment from 2013 to 2016.
Gokce received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Economics from Copenhagen Business School and post graduate degree in Finance and Investment from University of Durham.
Thomas is the CIO & Director of LGM Investments and the Lead Portfolio Manager for LGM’s Frontier equity strategy. Thomas has fourteen years of industry experience, joining LGM in September 2011 to launch our Frontier equity capability and in 2014 was appointed CIO for the business. Prior to joining LGM, Thomas worked at BankInvest in Copenhagen where he was responsible for their frontier market mandates. At BankInvest, Thomas gained extensive experience researching developing markets, initially specializing in Latin America and Eastern Europe equity and later, while on secondment in Singapore, covering Asian equities.
Thomas holds a MSc in Applied Economics and Finance from Copenhagen Business School and has a distinguished academic career including studying at Harvard Business School, London School of Economics, University of Southern California and National University of Singapore. Thomas is also a CFA Charterholder.
Rob heads up our LDI portfolio management team which is responsible for day to day management of client hedging portfolios as well as execution of over the counter derivative trades. Rob joined the firm in May 2007 having previously worked as a pension consultant before working at both Bear Stearns Bank and at JP Morgan where he managed exotic interest rate derivative control teams for 10 years. He holds an MEng in Engineering Science from Oxford University.
Bert Siebrand joined the Group in October 2006. Bert started his career in 1987 at Citicorp Investment Bank as an equity analyst and has since held several positions as an analyst and head of research on the sell side. In addition to examining individual companies, sectors and investment strategies, he has been conducting extensive research on convertibles. Bert studied 'International Economics' and 'Finance and Investments' at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam.
Catherine Stanley is a Managing Director and Head of the Global Small Cap Equity team. Since June 2009, Catherine has been Lead Manager of the BMO Responsible UK Equity Fund and the BMO Responsible UK Income Fund and in June 2013 the Global Small Cap Equity Fund was launched with Catherine as Lead. She joined the Group in 2000. Prior to this Catherine spent nine years at Framlington, where she managed both retail and institutional UK smaller company funds. She has an MA (Hons) in Geography from the University of Oxford and is a member of the CFA.
Yingying Dong, CFA*
Yingying is a Portfolio Manager for the Responsible China A-shares strategy and is based in LGM’s Hong Kong office. Yingying joined the team in 2015 as an analyst focused primarily on Greater China. She has over eleven years of industry experience, previously working as an associate with Deutsche Bank for two years, covering the utilities and energy sectors. She also spent two years at UOB Kay Hian, researching energy sector stocks and prior to that she was an analyst at Morgan Stanley for the Institutional Securities Group.
Yingying holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Fudan University in Shanghai and is a CFA Charterholder.
Rishi is the lead Portfolio Manager for LGM’s Global Emerging Markets equity strategy and serves as a Co-Portfolio Manager on LGM’s Responsible GEM strategy. Rishi is also a member of the Board of Directors for LGM Investments Ltd. He has over nineteen years’ industry experience, joining LGM in 2006 as an Indian equity researcher in Mumbai. Rishi re-located to LGM’s London office in 2014 assuming a wider research remit, becoming a Portfolio Manager for the GEM strategy in March 2016. Prior to joining LGM, Rishi worked for one of India’s leading financial institutions, ICICI Bank, as a multi-sector research analyst. He started his career in the corporate sector as a finance manager for General Electric, operating across a number of different business areas in both India and the US.
Rishi holds a post-graduate degree in Finance and Management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, and graduated in Commerce from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai.
Jamie Jenkins is Co-Head of the Global Equities team, Lead Portfolio Manager of the BMO Responsible Global Equity Fund and Lead Portfolio Manager of BMO SDG Engagement Global Equity Fund. Jamie joined the firm in 2000. Prior to joining the firm, Jamie worked at Hill Samuel Asset Management as a Japanese Equities Fund Manager. He holds an MA in History from the University of Edinburgh, has IMC and IIMR qualifications and is a member of the CFA Society of the UK.
Tom is responsible for equity portfolio management and research. He joined the company in 2005.
Previously, he served as a vice president and portfolio manager at Columbia Management and as an equity research analyst at William Blair & Company LLC. He entered the investment industry in 1994.
He holds an M.A. in accounting and a B.B.A. in finance and accounting from the University of Michigan. In addition, Tom is a CFA® charterholder, a certified public accountant (CPA) and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Chicago.
Joined in July 2015. Before this, he worked on the Global Rates desk, specifically with a UK focus. He began his career in 2005 working for LV asset Management initially alongside their Actuarial department. Robert is a CFA Charterholder, holds the IMC and has a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics from the University of Warwick.
Sam is a Portfolio Manager for LGM’s Responsible Global Emerging Markets equity strategy. Sam has over thirty years of industry experience, joining the LGM investment team in 2014. Prior to joining LGM, Sam spent over twenty years at BMO Global Asset Management (formally F&C Asset Management) conducting research and investing client’s capital across multiple emerging market strategies. He was also instrumental in launching the F&C India fund which was one of the first offshore Indian funds available for foreign investors. Prior to joining BMO Global Asset Management, he worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland Plc for six years as Senior Bank Officer in the corporate trusts division.
Sam is an Associate of the Institute of Financial Services and a member of the CFA Society in the UK.
João Eufrásio is head of Institutional Portfolio Management (Portugal). He joined the BMO in 2001. Prior to BMO he was Fund Manager responsible for the Insurance Portfolios & Pension Funds at AF Investimentos. He joined MillenniumBCP in 1989 and worked in various areas of banking such as Offshore corporate branch and International and Financial Department. Between 1992 and 1995 he was trader of fixed income for the proprietary portfolio of BCP covering both International and Domestic securities. Within Banco Cisf , the Investment Bank of BCP, he had responsibilities within development, structuring and syndication in the primary market. João has a Bachelor degree from ISLA (Instituto Superior de Linguas & Administração).
Suhail joined Pyrford in September 2008 as a Portfolio Manager covering North American equities. Prior to joining Pyrford, Suhail worked at Scottish Widows as a global equities portfolio manager and research analyst covering a number of sectors including the energy, telecommunication and technology sectors. He has over 10 years' experience in the asset management industry with particular emphasis in U.S. and global equities. Suhail graduated from King's College, London with a degree in Law and completed a Masters' in Finance from London Business School. He is also a qualified chartered accountant and holds the CFA® designation. Suhail has also held positions at KPMG, Hambros Merchant Bank (in corporate finance), Prudential and ABP Investments.
David joined the team in 2017. Prior to joining the firm David held senior research positions at the governance research agencies PIRC and ISS, after which he joined the ESG team at Fidelity International. David has extensive experience within a European coverage on researching governance topics, engaging with companies at a board/senior management level and dialoguing with policy makers. As an ESG Manager at Fidelity he expanded his expertise from pure governance to broader ESG topics, with a particular responsibility for integrating ESG themes into their investment research and decision-making processes. David graduated in 2006 from Sussex University with a BA in Philosophy, after which he completed an MSc in Philosophy and Public Policy at the London School of Economics with a thesis topic focusing on shareholder activism.
Robert Plant is a Director within the Multi-Asset team providing macro strategy input to a range of investment portfolios. Robert joined the group in October 2013 having previously worked for GLC’s Global Macro programme for six years where he was responsible for equity market research, investment analysis and risk management. Prior to this he was at Deutsche Bank as a securities analyst in the real estate asset management unit, responsible for valuing European companies. Robert has an honours degree in Business and Financial Economics from the University of Leeds.
Vicki Bakhshi is a Director in the Responsible Investment team. She joined the firm in November 2006, prior to which she spent five years in the UK government, including as the Prime Minister’s policy adviser on climate change, and as a senior member of the team responsible for the Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change. She also spent three years as a leader writer at the Financial Times, and two years as an economist at the Bank of England. Vicki chairs the UKSIF Leadership Committee, has served on the Board of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change, and was also named by Financial News in 2013 as one of the top 100 influential women in finance in Europe. Vicki holds an MSc in Economics from Warwick University and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University.
Ernesto is a Managing Director in Active Equities and a member of the Disciplined Equity team in Chicago. Ernesto began his investment management career in 1992 with Batterymarch Financial Management. He was a partner and lead portfolio manager at Nicholas-Applegate Capital Management LLC, and he also served as a software developer at Bolt, Beranek and Newman. His career features investment management and research, econometric research, statistical research and computer graphics research. He holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in statistics from Harvard University and a B.S. in mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Tony Cousins is a Chief Executive & Chief Investment Officer. He headed Pyrford's European and UK investment management activities since 1989, was promoted to Joint Chief Investment Officer in 2009 and then further promoted to his current role in 2011. Previously, Tony was an Equity Portfolio Manager at Daiwa International Capital Management in London. Tony graduated from Cambridge University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts, and obtained his Master of Arts and became a CFA charterholder in 1990.
David is Head of Product Management for BMO Global Asset Management. David originally joined the BMO Group in 1998, as part of a team that set up and managed multi sector Fixed Income vehicles on behalf of external clients. In 2013 he transferred to the Asset Management division to review opportunities to expand BMO’s asset management activities in the European region. Having been part of the team that acquired F&C Investments he subsequently took on the role of Head of Product Management (EMEA) in 2015.
Prior to joining BMO he managed proprietary bond investment and trading units at BBL London Branch and at Abbey National Treasury Services plc for over 6 years, including managing asset and mortgage backed securities portfolios, investment portfolios in bank, corporate and sovereign paper and multi-currency funding desks. Between 1985 and 1990 he worked in the Treasury unit of British Petroleum plc, covering debt issuance and asset-liability management.
David holds an M.A. in Economics from Cambridge University.
Jan Willemsen joined the Group as a senior Investment Strategist in 2001 in Amsterdam, and joined the LDI team in 2005 after which he moved to London. Prior to BMO Global Asset Management Jan worked for FDA where he spent 5 years as a macro strategist. Jan obtained a Master’s degree in Macro Economics at the University of Groningen, and is a CFA Charterholder.
Rosa Fenwick joined BMO Global Asset Management in July 2010 and is a Portfolio Manager in the LDI team. Rosa is responsible for day to day management of sterling and euro client hedging portfolios as well as execution of over the counter derivative trades, and is co-lead manager of the flagship Dynamic LDI Funds. Rosa has a BEng in Materials Science and Engineering from Imperial College and is a CFA Charterholder.
David heads the BMO Disciplined Equity Team and is responsible for equity portfolio management and research. He joined the company in 2008. David began his investment management career in 1999, and was a quantitative equity portfolio manager/researcher at Northern Trust Global Investments and a quantitative equity research analyst at Citigroup Asset Management. He holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in mathematics and quantitative economics from the University of Wisconsin. In addition, he is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Chicago and the Chicago Quantitative Alliance.
Miguel is a Portfolio Manager in the Emerging Market Debt team. He joined the company in 2006, initially as an Investment Risk Analyst. Prior to this, Miguel worked as a Senior Risk Analyst for GE Capital for three years and as a Risk Analyst for Banco Santander for two years. He has obtained an MSc in Financial Analysis from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and a BSc in Economics from Universidad de Lima. Miguel is a CFA charterholder.
Catherine joined the GSI team as an Analyst in February 2018, having completed a one year placement as the Emerging Market Debt team’s Product Specialist, responsible for client servicing, marketing and product development. She joined BMO Global Asset Management’s rotational Talent Development Program in September 2015, after graduating from the University of Oxford with a degree in Modern Languages (German & Italian). Prior to being awarded her degree she completed internships with the European Equities team at Henderson Global Investors, the UK Private Wealth Management team at Goldman Sachs, the Asset Management and Private Banking divisions of EFG International in Zurich, and the Equity Research team at Marketfield Asset Management in New York. She passed the Level I of the CFA Program in June 2016.
Nabil Owadally is a Derivatives Fund Manager in the Investment Solutions team, having joined BMO Global Asset Management in March 2011. Nabil previously worked at Towers Watson in their structured products team. Nabil has an MSc in Actuarial Finance from Imperial Business School and has passed all of his actuarial exams.
Sacha El Khoury
Sacha El Khoury is a fund manager in the Global Equities team. She joined the firm in 2009. Sacha graduated with an MSc in Finance (with distinction) from City University, Cass Business School in 2009 and a BA in Economics (with a minor in Business Administration) from the American University of Beirut in 2007. Sacha is a CFA Charterholder.
Jitzes Noorman joined BMO Global Asset Management in 2011 and is Delegated CIO in the Fiduciary Management team of BMO Global Asset Management. He is responsible for the investment portfolio of several pension funds. Before joining the firm, he was employed at MN Services as senior fund manager Special Investments and Hedge Funds. Moreover, he has worked for Rabobank International for ten years, among others as Credit Structurer, Fixed Income Strategist and Monetary Economist. He also was involved with the FTK Pension Fund Advisory Team of Rabobank International. Jitzes Noorman has attained a Master’s Degree (cum laude) in Macro Economics at the University of Groningen, and is a Certified EFFAS Financial Analyst.
Daniel Jarman joined the team in 2016 as an Associate Director in the GSI team, focusing on corporate governance, particularly in the UK. He was previously at voting service provider ISS, which he joined in 2006 following two years at Manifest as a Governance Analyst. Daniel became ISS’s Head of UK Governance Research in 2009, responsible for publication of reports and vote recommendations on UK-listed companies. He has significant engagement, voting and policy experience and has also spent significant time in Australia covering Australian companies. From 2013 he led ISS’s Customised Research team in the UK, providing ESG policy development and application services to institutional investors. He was also a member of the Global Policy Board. Daniel studied at Birmingham City University and has a BA in Business Economics.
Claudia is a Director and Co-Head of the Governance and Sustainable Investment team. She joined the firm in 2007 and leads the GSI team’s ESG research for BMO Global Asset Management’s screened funds, including our Responsible fund range that includes both equity and fixed income investments. In addition, Claudia plays a leading role in managing key reo® client relationships. Claudia previously spent five years at a start-up charity called New Philanthropy Capital where she focused on analysing the impact of charitable giving and advising high net-worths and corporates on their charitable giving strategies. Claudia graduated in 2001 from Durham University with a BA in Economics.
David is Head of Distribution for BMO Global Asset Management, responsible for developing and executing an integrated global distribution strategy across the business. He was appointed to this role in June 2016, having previously been Chief Operating Officer of BMO Global Asset Management (EMEA) since 2014.
Prior to this, David was Chief Financial Officer of F&C Asset Management plc, and instrumental in the company's acquisition by BMO Financial Group, and subsequent integration into BMO Global Asset Management (EMEA). Before becoming CFO of F&C in July 2006, David spent 17 years in the accounting profession, including four years as a partner at Deloitte & Touche LLP and three years as a partner at Andersen.
He holds a BA in Accounting and Economics and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland.
Julio is a Portfolio Manager in the Emerging Market Debt team. He joined the company in 2015. He started his career in 1999 in the Latin American and Caribbean region team of Charles Schwab & Co. In 2005, he joined MacKay Shields LLC, a subsidiary of New York Life Investment Management, as an emerging markets credit analyst within the global fixed income group. Julio has also worked at H2O Asset Management, a global macro portfolio, focusing on emerging market credit opportunities. He holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
Neil Sneddon is a Director in the Private Equity team, Assistant Manager of BMO Private Equity Trust plc and a General Partner of F&C European Capital Partners LP, The Aurora Fund LP, F&C Climate Opportunity Partners LP and F&C European Capital Partners II LP. Neil has 19 years of private equity investing experience and joined the firm in June 2005 when the private equity business of Martin Currie was acquired by F&C. Neil is closely involved in the investment management of BMO Private Equity Trust plc, and is manager of F&C European Capital Partners LP and F&C European Capital Partners II LP. Neil was with Martin Currie for 8 years. Neil’s initial experience at Martin Currie was in smaller companies where he had direct portfolio responsibility. Prior to joining Martin Currie, Neil trained as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen where he worked between 1993 and 1997. Neil has an honours degree in Accountancy & Finance from Heriot-Watt University.
Steven Bell is a Managing Director, responsible for providing macro strategy input to a broader range of multi asset investment portfolios. He joined the company in July 2013 having run the GLC’s Global Macro programme for the previous seven years. Before that he was Global Chief Economist and Investment Head of the UK multi asset business at Deutsche Asset Management during his tenure 1984 – 2005. Steven began his career as an Economic Adviser at the UK Treasury and has degrees in economics from the London School of Economics and Stanford University, California.
Sam Cosh is a Director at BMO. Sam joined BMO in 2010 from BNP Investment Partners and was appointed Lead Manager for European Assets Trust during 2011. Sam also manages the European investments of BMO Global Smaller Companies PLC. He has twenty years’ experience in European equities, principally within small and mid cap mandates.
Paul is a member of the Multi-Manager People team. He joined the group via Thames River Capital in April 2007. Prior to focusing on investment management, Paul gained experience in portfolio implementation, portfolio pricing and client administration at Credit Suisse Asset Management from 2001 to 2007 and, prior to that, at Rothschild Asset Management. He holds the Investment Administration Qualification (IAQ), the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), the CISI Level 6 Certificate in Private Client Investment Advice & Management and the CISI Diploma. Paul leads the daily performance analysis of funds in addition to his broader fund selection role. He currently specialises in a number of sectors for fund research including US, Japan, UK Growth, UK Income and Alternatives.
Joanne Wilkes, MRICS, heads up the in town retail asset management team and has 28 years of asset management experience in the retail commercial real estate market. She joined F&C in 1990 and has overall responsibility at BMO REP for all client high street and shopping centre holdings, advising on sales, purchases, refurbishments and all other asset management initiatives. Prior to joining the company Joanne worked in private practice specialising in retail agency, development and professional work. She is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, qualifying in 1986, and is a member of The British Council of Shopping Centres. Joanne holds a B.Sc(Hons) in Land Management from Reading University and the RICS Postgraduate Diploma in Property Investment.
Keith joined BMO Global Asset Management in 2012 and plays a leading role in managing multi asset strategies and developing unconstrained fixed income solutions across the group. Keith has over 25 years’ fixed income and asset allocation experience holding senior positions in some of the leading investment managers, including Deutsche Asset Management and Aberdeen Asset Management. Prior to joining BMO Global Asset Management and after a brief period at Brevan Howard (the macro hedge fund) he became the global head of fixed income for UBS Wealth Management in Zurich and a member of the global asset allocation committee within the investment office. Keith graduated in 1989 from South Bank University in London with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies (specialising in Finance).
Kelly is a member of the Multi-Manager People team. She joined the group via Thames River Capital in April 2007 from Credit Suisse. Prior to this she helped to set up the successful multi-manager process at Rothschild Asset Management. Kelly leads fixed interest research and is currently also on the sector team covering alternatives. She holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC).
Nick Henderson is a Portfolio Manager within the Responsible Global Equities team. He is the alternate manager of the BMO Responsible Global Equity Fund. He joined both the firm and the team in 2008. Prior to joining the firm, Nick graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Bristol and is a CFA Charterholder.
Paul S Robinson
Paul joined BMO Global Asset Management in June 2014 as a Director in the Global Rates and Money Market team. Paul has over twenty years of experience in financial services and joined from ICAP after a successful career at JP Morgan and other leading houses. Most of his career has been focused on Money Markets and Short Term Interest Rates products. His experience includes trading and analysis of a broad range of money market instruments, including cash and derivative instruments ranging from CP/CDs to interest rate futures and swaps. Paul also actively developed short duration relative value and macro strategies across the curve, specifically looking at G7 markets. Paul has a BSc (Hons) in Economics and Politics from the University of Bristol.
Joan is responsible for advancing the business agenda through the development and implementation of a robust operational platform. She works closely with BMO Global Asset Management leaders to develop strategic plans while providing direction and oversight on tactical initiatives and day-to-day operations. In addition, Joan is responsible for ensuring that there is appropriate oversight of risks across business units, products, services, projects and initiatives.
Joan has held leadership roles both inside and outside North America in multiple areas of the business, risk management and human resources. In her most recent position as BMO's head of operational risk and chief risk officer for the bank's Wealth Management division, Joan played a key leadership role in guiding the business during a period of significant growth and heightened regulatory scrutiny.
Joan holds an M.B.A. from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
Nicholas is an Analyst in the Emerging Market Debt team, with regional responsibility for Asian sovereigns. Before, he worked as a Product Specialist in the team, where he was responsible for client servicing, marketing and product development, including ESG-analysis. Nicholas joined the company in 2011 to be part of our relationship management department based in Amsterdam, where he worked as an Account Manager for insurance companies and pension funds. Nicholas has a MSc in Finance and Investments from the Rotterdam School of Management and is a CFA charterholder.
Lucy Morris is a fund manager in the European Equities team, dedicated to Smaller Companies. She joined the firm in 2007 as a member of the Performance Analytics team. Lucy moved to the European Equities team in the summer of 2011 and has been working on Small Cap mandates since. Lucy graduated from the University of Exeter with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology in 2006, holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and is a CFA Charterholder.
Peter Ewins is a Director and Portfolio Manager in the Global Small Cap Equity team. He joined the Group in 1996. Prior to this, he worked for Municipal Mutual Insurance and Commercial Union Insurance (1989-93) and ESN Pension Management (1994-96). Peter has a BA (Hons) in Economics and Statistics from the University of Exeter and is a member of the CFA Society of the UK.
Kevin Gopaul is President and Chief Commercial Officer of BMO Exchange Traded Funds for BMO Global Asset Management.
Kevin is a key asset to the BMO Bank of Montreal Global Asset Management team with over 18 years of progressive investment industry experience, including global passive and active strategies.
Prior to joining BMO GAM, he served as Principal, Portfolio Manager at Barclays Global Investors Canada where he played an integral role in overseeing the management of Exchange Traded Funds and Institutional mandates. Kevin also worked as an index arbitrage trader with Scotia Capital.
Kevin continues to be an active participant in the financial services industry, having served as the Chairman of the Canadian ETF Association (CETFA) from 2017-2019 and where he continues to serve as a Director, as well as being appointed to the Public Policy Committee a key member committee of the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance (CCGG) in 2020, and acting as an advisor to several index advisory panels.
Kevin studied Economics, Finance and Computer Science at the University of Waterloo, and was named one of IIAC's Top 40 Under 40 in 2015.
Steve is the Head of Investment Solutions and the CIO North America, BMO Global Asset Management. Steve joined F&C in 2012 and is a member of the BMO Global Asset Management Senior Leadership Team. Prior to his current role he was the co-Head of Investment BMO GAM (EMEA).
Steve has over 25 year’s investment experience in a variety of senior roles. He began his career with Robert Fleming & Company before moving to Morgan Grenfell/Deutsche Asset Management. During his time at Deutsche, he was based in the US for two years before becoming Head of Fixed Income in London. As Head of Fixed Income, Steve was heavily involved in Aberdeen’s acquisition of a number of businesses from Deutsche Asset Management. Subsequently, he was responsible for integrating and restructuring the combined fixed income businesses of Deutsche and Aberdeen and a member of Aberdeen’s Executive Committee Management. Following Aberdeen, Steve became a founding principal of Alignment Investors, a division of BlueCrest Capital Management.
Richard is the Chief Investment Officer of BMO Global Asset Management, and the CIO for Europe the Middle East and Africa. Richard is a board member of three group companies including the F&C Netherlands BV.
Previous roles in Richards career with the Group and predecessor companies include: co-Head of Investment for BMO GAM EMEA, Head of Fixed Income, Head of Investment Solutions, and Head of Liability Driven Investment.
Richard joined the company in 2005 after eight years at the Investment Bank JP Morgan where he worked in the interest rate derivative business both in London and New York.
Richard holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Exeter.
Jonathan is Head of the Emerging Markets Debt team. He joined the group in 2005 from Standard Asset Management where he managed Latin American and Asian bond assets totalling $1.5 billion. Prior to this, Jonathan had been at GT Asset Management (now INVESCO Perpetual) for eight years as a portfolio manager in the emerging debt team, after three years as an economist. He began his career in 1992 as an economist with CRU International, a supplier of forecasting and consultancy services to the metals industry. Jonathan holds an MA in Economics from Trinity College, Cambridge.
Peter Hewitt is a Director and Fund Manager in Global Equities and is currently responsible for managing the BMO Managed Portfolio Trust, which was listed in 2008. Between 1983 and 1996 Peter was a Fund Manager with Ivory & Sime (later known as ISIS ), working initially in the US team and from 1986 in the UK team, where he was responsible for a variety of pension fund and investment trust clients. He joined the Group in 1999. Prior to BMO Global Asset Management, Peter spent two years as Head of UK Equities with Murray Johnstone. Peter holds a BA (Hons) in Economics from the Heriot Watt University .
Ross is accountable for the development and implementation of a multi-year distribution strategy for BMO Global Asset Management’s suite of Canadian retail and institutional investment products. Retail brands include BMO Mutual Funds and BMO Exchange Traded Funds.
Ross has over 25 years of investment industry experience. In his previous roles, Ross was Co-President, BMO Investments Inc. and President, Guardian Group of Funds Ltd. Ross is Vice Chair of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC).
Ross is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a Bachelor of Arts, Economics from the University of Western Ontario.
Nicola Thorpe is responsible for the portfolio management of a range of LDI mandates. After joining BMO Global Asset Management in June 2010, she transferred to the LDI team in 2013 where she spent 2 years as a product specialist managing the client agenda for the LDI product. Prior to that, Nicola worked as the Business Manager for the Head of Investment Solutions assisting with the management and operation of the business unit. Nicola has a BCom degree in Finance and a post-graduate BCom (Hons) degree in Investment Management, both from the University of Johannesburg.
Marcus has been managing TR Property Investment Trust since 2011 and is a partner at Thames River Capital (now part of BMO Global Asset Management). Previously he was a fund manager at Henderson Global Investors from 1997 to 2004. Along with managing the TR Property Investment Trust, he is a co-manager of the BMO Property Growth & Income Fund (which he launched in 2005) and BMO Global Real Estate Securities Fund. Prior to joining Henderson, Marcus was an Associate Partner at Knight Frank. He is a Chartered Surveyor and holds a BSc (Hons) in Land Management from Reading University.
David joined BMO Global Asset Management in 2012 to co-manage an initiative focused on the management of collateralized loan obligations (CLOs) and separate accounts. He has more than 20 years of experience in the leveraged loan market; he currently co-manages two client accounts with combined assets under management of approximately $700 million.
Previously, David was a founding partner and senior managing director of Pangaea Asset Management, LLC, which managed four primarily middle-market CLO funds with more than $1 billion in total assets. He was a member of the investment committee and responsible for communication with investors as well as operational and financial matters.
His prior experience also includes serving as managing director and CLO portfolio manager at GE Asset Management, where as part of the bank loan team, David was responsible for the management of more than $2 billion in CLO funds. He was previously a member of the Antares Asset Management (AAM) investment committee and chief financial officer for Antares Capital Corporation (ACC). ACC and AAM managed six CLO funds and two separate accounts totaling more than $2 billion.
David holds an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a B.S. in accounting from Miami University in Ohio. He is also a certified public accountant (inactive).
Gareth Morgan is a Senior Fund Manager, Emerging Market Equities, focusing on EMEA and Latin America. He joined BMO Global Asset Management in 2006. Prior to this, Gareth spent five years at Shell UK Pension Fund where he was responsible for the management of non-Asian emerging market assets. Prior to this he spent five years at Invesco Perpetual, covering Latin American equities. Gareth started his career at Premium Life Assurance. He has a BSc in Business Finance and Economics from the University of East Anglia and is a member of the CFA Society of the UK.
Scott, a member of the Multi-Manager People team, has over 15 years’ experience in researching funds. Prior to joining the group in July 2014 he was a senior investment manager at Aberdeen Asset Management, where he was responsible for a number of retail and institutional multi-manager portfolios. Prior to that he was a member of the Credit Suisse multi-manager team having previously been hired by Rob and Gary when they were at Credit Suisse. He holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and a BA (Hons) in Economics from Nottingham Trent University and specialises in a number of research sectors including US, Japan, UK Growth, Global, Asia and GEM.
Peter Lowe, MRICS, is a Director and is the Fund Manager for BMO Real Estate Investments Limited. Peter has 13 years of Real Estate experience across the UK and mainland Europe. Prior to joining BMO Real Estate Partners (‘BMO REP’) in 2015 Peter worked for 9 years at DTZ Investors with responsibility for a number of UK Pension Fund and segregated accounts, including Safeway Pension Trustees Ltd, Imperial Tobacco Pension Trustees Ltd and the Universities Superannuation Scheme. More recently Peter was Fund Manager for Pearl Assurance Trust (Pensions) Ltd and GE CIF Trustees Ltd. Peter has an MSc in Real Estate & Management and sits on the BMO REP Investment Committee.
Chris Nicoll, MRICS, is Head of Industrial & Logistics. He has circa 20 years’ experience in the industrial and logistics sector dealing across the length and breadth of the UK, together with some exposure to the mainland European market. He and his team are responsible for the acquisition and asset management of manufacturing and distribution property, adding to existing 10M square foot already under management. The UK amassed portfolio to date has a rent roll of circa £50M and a strong midlands bias. Chris joined F&C in 2005. Prior to that he worked in private practice specialising in business space agency. He then moved into the corporate sector acquiring and developing self storage centres before moving into commercial property asset management with St George. Chris is a graduate of Oxford Brookes University and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1997.
Margarida Esteves da Fonseca
Margarida Esteves da Fonseca is Head of Unit-Linked, ALM and Structured Products at BMO Global Asset Management (EMEA) Portugal. She joined BMO Global Asset Management in 2001. Prior to the firm, Margarida worked in Unit Linked and Closed-end Investment Funds at AF Investimentos (BCP Group) from 1998 to 2001. Prior to that, Margarida was a technical advisor for the Portuguese Treasury from 1996 to 1998. From 1989 to 1994, she worked at Banco Português do Atlântico, latterly as a Manager in the Capital Markets Department. From 1976 to 1998, Margarida was also a lecturer at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Economics and Business Administration. She has an Economics degree from Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and an MBA from Universidade Nova Lisboa/Wharton School.
Nish Patel is a Director and Portfolio Manager in the Global Small Cap Equity team. He joined the Group in 2007. Prior to this, he worked at Deloitte in their Technology, Media and Telecommunications Audit division. Nish has a BSc in Economics from University College London and is a fully qualified chartered accountant and CFA charter holder.
Alban joined the company in July 2008. He is the lead fund manager of BMO Real Estate Equity Market Neutral Fund and BMO European Real Estate Securities Fund and co-manager of the BMO Global Real Estate Securities Fund and BMO Property Growth & Income Fund. He was previously at Citigroup Global Markets as an equity research analyst focusing on continental European real estate. Prior to that he was at Société Générale Securities, where he focused on transport equity research. He completed a BSc Business and Management programme at ESC Toulouse, including one year at the Brunel University, School of Business Management in London. He also attended CERAM Nice High Business School. In 2005 he obtained a post-graduate Specialised Master in Finance in 2005 from ESCP-EAP.
Philip Webster is a Director in the European Equity team. Philip joined BMO Global Asset Management in May 2016 from Aberdeen Asset Management where he was a Senior Investment Manager with the Pan-European Equity Team. Philip had responsibilities across UK and European mandates while being lead manager of Aberdeen Smaller Companies Income Trust which he managed for 8 years. Phil graduated from the University of Aberdeen with an MA in Economics, holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and is a CFA Charterholder.
Chris Childs joined the company in 1993. He was a senior fund manager within the Multi-Strategy team before permanently transferring across to his current position as a Director within the Factor Investments team. Chris is a graduate of the Bristol Business School and holds a Masters with distinction in Finance & Investment from Exeter University.
Christopher Higman is a Derivatives Fund Manager in the LDI team and is the alternate fund manager on numerous large bespoke and segregated LDI portfolios. Chris joined BMO Global Asset Management in September 2006 with an MPhys degree in Theoretical Physics from Exeter University and is a CFA charterholder.
Max Peacock is an LDI Portfolio Manager in the LDI team, who joined BMO Global Asset Management in November 2015. Max previously worked five years at Legal and General in the LDI team. Max has a masters in Mathematics from the University of Warwick and has passed all three CFA exams.

Philip is a Portfolio Manager in the Emerging Market Debt team. His experience covering the region stretches back to his first role as a graduate trainee with the company in 2006, although in the interim he spent four years at First State Investments also covering Central and Eastern Europe. Philip has a Master’s level degree from the prestigious St Gallen university in Switzerland and is a CFA charterholder.
Chris Langford is an Investment Assistant in the Multi-Asset Investment team. He joined the Group in July 1999. He graduated from Queen Mary’s College, University of London with a BA (Hons) in Mathematical Sciences and also holds the IMC.
Raymond Heesakker joined the firm in 2006. In 2001, Raymond managed the US Equity Portfolio for PGGM in the Netherlands. Prior that that, he worked at PVF (a company acquired by Achmea, which merged with F&C, now BMO Global Asset Management) where he managed the US equity portfolio for 10 years and initiated and managed their Convertible Fund from 1998 until 2001. Raymond holds a Business School degree from the Hogeschool Utrecht and has successfully completed the VBA qualification.
Simon Bentley is Managing Director, Head of UK Solutions Client Portfolio Management for BMO Global Asset Management, responsible for the investment outcome for a range of our LDI clients. Simon has significant experience working with large UK Pension and Insurance clients implementing a range of LDI and derivative based solutions. Simon joined the group in 2011. Previously Simon worked at UBS Global Asset Management and Insight Investment where he covered a range of asset classes, focusing in particular on LDI and fixed income mandates. He started his career at Lazard Asset Management. Simon holds a BEng in Manufacturing Engineering from Loughborough University.
Rebecca Seabrook is a Director and Portfolio Manager within the Credit team. She joined in 2001. Prior to this, Rebecca worked as a Fund Manager for Rothschild Asset Management and Friends Ivory & Sime, having begun her career with London and Manchester as a Credit Analyst. Rebecca graduated from the University of Wales in 1995 with a BA in Accounting and Finance. She holds the IIMR and is a member of UKSIP.
Ioannis Pantelidakis, Director, Portfolio Manager, Factor Investments joined in February 2018. Prior to joining, Ioannis worked at Orbis Investments as a quantitative investment analyst and at Grantward as a portfolio manager, in both cases developing and implementing fully systematic quantitative strategies. Ioannis holds a BSc in Mathematics (first class) from the University of London (Queen Mary) and a DPhil from the University of Oxford, also in Mathematics.
Patrick Newens is a Director and Portfolio Manager in the Global Small Cap Equity team. Patrick joined the firm in 2004 as a member of the Strategy team. Prior to this, Patrick worked as a consultant with Deloitte, specialising in Capital Markets. Patrick graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2001 with a BA (Hons) in Economics. He holds the IMC qualification and is a CFA charterholder.
Stewart Bennett joined the business in May 2019 as Global Head of Alternatives. Stewart oversees BMO Global Asset Management’s newly formed Global Alternatives offering, incorporating its existing private equity, real estate and real estate securities businesses, which will provide investors with a broader range of innovative real asset investment solutions.
Stewart is responsible for developing and executing BMO Global Asset Management’s alternative investments global growth strategy, building on the track record of delivering superior risk-adjusted returns by effectively leveraging synergies across the three businesses and significantly expanding its reach globally.
Stewart joined BMO Global Asset Management with 25 years of experience in investment banking and private equity, including 10 years as a partner and Head of the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) at Ondra Partners, the London based independent investment banking firm. His previous experience includes Dresdner Kleinwort, where he was Managing Director and Head of FIG, Strategic Advisory, and the private equity firm Botts & Company.
Gary is co-head of the Multi-Manager People team. He shares overall responsibility for the performance of the team’s portfolios with Rob Burdett and leads research teams for UK income, US, Asia and emerging market equities. Gary joined the group in 2007 via Thames River Capital. Prior to this he was at Credit Suisse from 2001, jointly responsible with Rob Burdett for their multi-manager funds. He joined from Rothschild Asset Management Limited, where he was a main board director and was jointly responsible for their multi-manager business. Gary began his career in 1981 in private client fund management where his responsibilities extended to a specific focus on asset allocation and stock research. He moved into the multi-manager field in 1992. Gary is a chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.
Richard Kirby, MRICS, responsibilities include advising on and implementing on portfolio strategy, sales, acquisitions, asset enhancement and management. He joined the Group in 1990. Prior to that, Richard gained experience in professional practice and an investment agency. Richard is a Chartered Surveyor.
Richard Kirby, MRICS, joined BMO Real Estate Partners ('BMO REP') in 1990. He has been a fund manager since 1995 and has experience of managing commercial property portfolios across all sectors for open-ended, closed-ended and life fund clients. Richard has been lead manager of the F&C Commercial Property Trust since launch in 2005 where his responsibilities include advising on and implementing property portfolio strategy, sales, acquisitions, asset enhancement and management. He is a director of BMO REP and sits on both the Executive Committee and Investment Committee of BMO REP. He is a Chartered Surveyor and a member of the Investment Property Forum, the British Council of Offices and the British Council for Shopping Centres.
Zvi Noé is the Investment Director within BMO REP and member of the Fund Management team. He has over 7 years experience in the real estate industry. Previously, Zvi worked at real estate investment firm Franc Warwick for 2.5 years and before that with AREA Property Partners (previously called Apollo) for 1.5 years. Zvi led the acquisition of the distressed portfolio of Dawnay Day in the UK for a consideration of c. £600mm.
George Cotton has extensive experience in the Out of Town field and advises on all matters concerning retail warehousing, out of town leisure and food store property investments. George and his team handle the asset management of all client fund holdings in this sector through new acquisitions, sales, development and other asset enhancement initiatives. He joined the Group in 1992 after graduating from Kingston Polytechnic with a BSc (Hons) in Estate Management and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1994. He is a member of Accessible Retail, the recognised Out of Town Retail professional body for investors, developers and retailers.
Sujay Shah is Fund Manager in the Global Rates team. Within the team Sujay focuses on UK and Global bond portfolios. Sujay was previously at Goldman Sachs where he traded US Treasuries, providing liquidity across nominal and real US government bond curves. He also developed relative value strategies within G10 interest rate markets and undertook macro strategies across liquid asset classes. Before this Sujay worked for 7 years at the Bank of England where he held several positions in the Markets division ranging from financial market economist to Senior Portfolio Manager on the Reserves Management Team. Sujay has a MSc in Finance and Economics from the London School of Economics and has completed all three levels of the CFA exams.
Terry Wood joined the group in August 2007 as a Quantitative Portfolio Manager covering both passive and active funds. Previously Terry spent nine years at Deutsche Asset Management as a Quantitative Analyst for the Global Equity team. He holds a BA (Hons) in Accounting & Finance from the University of Kent and is a CFA Charterholder.
Claire Franklin, CFA, joined the BMO Global Asset Management (EMEA) Emerging Markets team in 2006 where she has focused on Emerging Europe, the Middle East and South Africa, and became part of the LGM team in late 2014. Prior to this, she spent the first 3 years of her career at Sloane Robinson Investment Management as a junior analyst covering Asian companies. Claire graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Banking and International Finance from Cass Business School, London. She is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA society of the UK.
