Thomas Vester, CFA, CIO and Lead PM, joined LGM in September 2011. Prior to this, he was at BankInvest in Copenhagen for over 6 years, initially specialising in Latin America and then Eastern Europe and was the PM of the BankInvest Eastern European Fund. Thomas has also covered Asian equities and was seconded to BankInvest’s Singapore office. From September 2007, he was responsible for the BankInvest Frontier Market mandates. He holds a MSc in Applied Economics and Finance from Copenhagen Business School and has a distinguished academic career including studying at Harvard Business School, London School of Economics, University of Southern California and National University of Singapore. Thomas is an Associate of the Brenthurst Foundation in South Africa. In 2014 Thomas was appointed CIO of LGM.
Rishikesh Patel holds a post-graduate degree in finance and management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, and graduated in commerce from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai. Before joining LGM in 2006, he worked with ICICI Securities and General Electric. During Rishikesh’s two years at ICICI Securities he was an analyst researching the IT, real estate and cement sectors. Rishi was at General Electric for almost three years and worked across five GE businesses. Since joining LGM he has researched Indian stocks and advised on our Indian mandates. Rishikesh relocated to our London office in October 2014 and became co-portfolio manager and then portfolio manager for our Global Emerging Markets mandates in March and July 2016, respectively.
Irina Hunter began her career in financial services in 1992 and from 1994 to 1998 worked as vice president for the U.S.-Russia Investment Fund, a private equity investment fund in Moscow. After a period working in M&A in Canada and Russia, she joined AGF Funds Inc. in 2002, based in Toronto where she was a global equity analyst, and later an associate portfolio manager. She supported the award-winning AGF Emerging Markets Fund and AGF Global Equity Class. Irina has an M.B.A. from the University of Rochester as well as a bachelor’s degree in finance and banking from the Moscow Finance Academy. Irina joined LGM in 2007.
Dafydd Lewis, CFA, Co-PM, graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Bath. He began his career in HSBC’s emerging market equity strategy team in 2005 and relocated to Dubai at the beginning of 2007 to cover Middle Eastern equity markets. In 2008 he joined GAM’s emerging market team in Dubai as an investment analyst with a primary focus on global frontier markets. Dafydd joined LGM in December 2011 as an Analyst focusing on Frontier Financials and in 2014 he became PM to support Thomas Vester.
Damian Bird, CFA, joined LGM in 2015 as an Asian equity portfolio manager and became portfolio manager for our Global Emerging Markets mandates in July 2016. Damian spent more than five years at Arisaig Partners, including two years in Singapore, where he focused on Asian and Eastern European consumer equities. In January 2011 he relocated to Cape Town where he spent three and a half years as a key decision maker in the asset allocation process for the US$1 billion Arisaig Africa Consumer Fund. Prior to LGM, Damian was a portfolio manager at Infusive Asset Management, where he launched and managed the Infusive Consumer Alpha Global Leaders Fund, a long-only equity fund that invests globally in the consumer sector. Damian holds a B.A. with honors in economics and history from Oxford University and is a CFA charterholder.
Christopher Darling graduated from University College London and then took an MSc in economic history from the London School of Economics. He worked as a member of the Asian equities team at Capel Cure Myers in London, before joining Guardian Royal Exchange in 1991. At GRE, he launched and managed the GRE Japan Trust and was head of Asia Pacific equities. He spent eight years at Lombard Odier from 1995, where he managed Japanese portfolios for institutional clients, as well as the Asia Pacific component of EAFE funds. Immediately prior to joining LGM Investments in Hong Kong in 2006, he worked in Hong Kong with the investment banking boutique, Fox-Pitt, Kelton Ltd, specialising in Asian and Japanese financials.
Sam Mahtani joined BMO Global Asset Management (EMEA) in 1993 helping launch the F&C India fund, the third offshore India fund to be available to foreign investors, and taking on a co-manager role for the fund in 1994. He has over 20 years’ investment experience analysing companies and managing money in emerging markets. Sam has researched companies in Asia, specialising in India, China, Korea and Latin America. Prior to BMO Global Asset Management (EMEA) Sam worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland Plc for six years as Senior Bank Officer in the corporate trusts division. He is an Associate of the Institute of Financial Services and a member of the CFA Society in the UK. Sam was one of the five BMO Global Asset Management (EMEA) emerging markets team members to become part of LGM in late 2014.
Claire Franklin, CFA, joined the BMO Global Asset Management (EMEA) Emerging Markets team in 2006 where she has focused on Emerging Europe, the Middle East and South Africa, and became part of the LGM team in late 2014. Prior to this, she spent the first 3 years of her career at Sloane Robinson Investment Management as a junior analyst covering Asian companies. Claire graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Banking and International Finance from Cass Business School, London. She is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA society of the UK.
Gokce Bulut joined LGM in May 2017 as an Analyst. He received his undergraduate degree from Copenhagen Business School and his postgraduate degree from Durham University, with a concentration in Finance and Investments. He has six years of experience as an analyst at First State Stewart, working in Edinburgh as a generalist covering the Emerging Markets equities and in Hong Kong covering Asian equities.
Juan graduated with a BSc in Economics from the Universidad de San Andreas in Argentina in 2002. After completing an MSc in Economics in 2003, he then spent two years in Buenos Aires as an Analyst with the Mergers & Acquisitions boutique, Prefinex, and an additional two years as an Analyst in the Equity Capital Markets division of the investment bank, Raymond James (Argentina). From 2008-9, he completed a Masters in Finance at the London Business School. Juan joined LGM in 2010 as an Analyst with responsibility for coverage of Latin American equity markets.
Satya joined LGM in September 2015 as an Analyst focusing on Indian equities. He holds a post graduate degree in Management from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and graduated in Mechanical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. Before joining LGM, Satya was part of the founding investment team of Laburnum Capital, New Delhi; there he was involved with researching Indian equities for more than five years across sectors. Before that Satya was Vice President at Digital Century Capital in New Delhi, where he researched global technology stocks. He was previously with KPMG’s business consulting division as a consultant on corporate strategy and a software engineer with i2 technologies.
Donatas graduated from Vilnius University with a Master of Audit and Accounting. He has 7 years experience as an analyst having started his career at Orion Baltic, a subsidiary of Orion Securities, before joining Swedbank, covering companies listed on the Vilnius Stock Exchange. Donatas joined LGM in November 2011 to cover consumer discretionary and staples.
Alan joined LGM in 2016 as a Product Specialist. Alan spent the first five years of his career at the National Treasury Management Agency in Dublin, where he was an Investment Analyst for the National Pension Reserve Fund focusing on the selection and monitoring of the investment manager programme. In June 2011 he relocated to London where he spent two years at Alliance Bernstein as a Senior Associate, Business Development, in a combined sales and client relationship role. Prior to joining LGM, Alan spent three years working for Pioneer Investments in London as a Product Specialist, covering Emerging Markets (Equities and Debt) while also having coverage of European High Yield. Alan holds a BSc Honours in Financial Maths and Economics from the National University of Ireland, Galway, an MBS in Finance from the UCD Michael Smurfit School of Business and is a CFA Charterholder.
June Lui, CFA moved to LGM in December 2014. Previously, she had worked at F&C since 2006. Prior to this she was an Investment Services Manager in Hang Seng Bank in Hong Kong and before that she worked for Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia) for 4 years. She holds an MBA from the University of Hong Kong and has an Honours Degree in Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. June is a CFA Charterholder.
Kevin joined LGM in 2016 as an Analyst on the Greater China team. Before joining LGM, Kevin was a research analyst at Jefferies for 5 years, covering Greater China consumer companies. Prior to that, he worked at Credit Suisse for 4 years. Kevin holds a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from National University of Singapore and is a CFA Charterholder.
Yingying joined LGM in 2015 as an Analyst on the Greater China team. She has over four years of experience in equity research covering Utilities and Energy, with Deutsche Bank and UOB Kay Hian. Prior to that she worked for Morgan Stanley for two years. Yingying holds a B.A. in International Economics from Fudan University and is a CFA Charterholder
Liam joined LGM in 2018 as a Junior Analyst & Dealer on the Greater China team. Liam holds a M.A. in China Studies from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and a MSc in Development Economics from the University of East Anglia. Before joining LGM, Liam worked as an Investment officer at Wing Lung Asset Management since graduation from his M.A. study in 2015, where he was responsible for trade execution for the team and conducting fundamental research.
